2.0 General Information
2.1 Q: I can't make CAMagic Mobile work with my phone. What can I do?
A: There are certain conditions that must be met for CAMagic Mobile to work with your Bluetooth device. If you are having difficulty, please check that the following conditions have been met.
First, your PC must be enabled with Bluetooth wireless technology function:
1) Install a stack driver for Bluetooth wireless technology that is sufficient for the CAMagic Mobile program. See System Requirements for a list of recommended stack drivers.
2) Install a dongle with Bluetooth wireless technology, or turn on your computer's Bluetooth feature.
Second, your mobile phone must be enabled with Bluetooth wireless technology function :
1) Your mobile phone's Bluetooth feature must be turned on. If you don't know how to turn on the Bluetooth transmission, please check your mobile phone manual.
2) If necessary, set your phone to Discoverable mode during the search. For example, Motorola phones have a Discoverable mode that lasts for 60 seconds once activated. If your phone requires this setting, you will need to conduct the CAMagic Mobile search while the phone is in Discoverable mode, otherwise CAMagic Mobile won't locate your phone. You can check your mobile phone manual for details about the Discoverable setting.
3) If your phone battery is low on power, CAMagic Mobile may not find your phone. Recharge your battery if it is low.
4) Make sure your handset's Bluetooth wireless technology function is not already engaged. If your phone is already connected to another device, such as a headset, CAMagic Mobile can't connect with your mobile phone even if you have already paired the phone and set it as the default device.
Even if the above conditions are met, you may need to search two or more times to find your mobile phone, especially if there are many devices with Bluetooth wireless technology in the area.
2.2 Q: I have CAMagic Mobile, but my mobile phone is not on the list of supported phones. What can I do?
A:You can check our up-to-date list of supported mobile phones. If you find your mobile phone in the list, then you can update your current software version by downloading directly from the web site. The update may be free of charge, depending on your current version. For details, check out our Online Shop or Download Center.
If you cannot find your mobile phone on the list of supported phones, it means we do not support your mobile phone at the moment.
2.3 Q: Can I use CAMagic Mobile to connect to my headset with Bluetooth wireless technology?
A: No. The CAMagic Mobile is especially designed for connecting the mobile phone and the computer. It locates mobile phone devices only, and can't used to connect your headset with Bluetooth wireless technology.
2.4 Q: What is the difference between the Premium Edition and Standard Edition?
A: The CAMagic Mobile Premium Edition provides many extraordinary multimedia editing functions, like Photo Editor, Audio Editor, and Video Composer, which CAMagic Mobile Standard Edition does not provide. These functions allow you to edit and enhance photos, audio files, and video files to maximize the fun of your mobile phone's multimedia features. For more details, read more about Premium Edition features.
2.5 Q: I already have a driver for Bluetooth wireless technology in my PC. Should I install the Bluetooth stack driver bundled with the Bluetooth dongle?
A: Yes, you will need to install the Bluetooth stack driver bundled with your Bluetooth dongle because your current stack driver for Bluetooth wireless technlogy might not be sufficient for CAMagic Mobile to run properly. Before you install the new stack driver, you should uninstall the original stack driver completely to prevent conflicts. You can check if the Bluetooth driver in your PC meets the requirements for CAMagic Mobile (see System Requirements). If it does meet the requirements, you can keep the original Bluetooth driver and just install the CAMagic Mobile software. If it doesn't, you will need to install the Bluetooth stack driver bundled with your Bluetooth dongle. Before you install the new stack driver, you should uninstall the original stack driver completely to prevent conflicts.
2.6 Q: Can I use CAMagic Mobile with the Windows XP SP2 built-in Bluetooth driver?
A: No. Bluetooth profiles built into Windows XP SP2 are not adequate for CAMagic Mobile. CAMagic Mobile requires additional Bluetooth profiles to run properly. You need a stack driver from Toshiba, IVT, or WIDCOMM.
2.7 Q: I received the message "Bluetooth device not found. Please make sure you've installed the Bluetooth software from the installation CD and have plugged in or turned on the Bluetooth dongle properly." What should I do now?
A: The condition “Bluetooth device not found” commonly happens under two conditions:
1. The hardware is not well-installed. Try unplugging your dongle and then plugging it in again to see if this solves the problem.
2. Stack driver support is insufficient. Please check your stack driver version against the System Requirements to make sure you have sufficient stack driver support.
2.8 Q: Why can't CAMagic Mobile find my phone?
A: There are certain conditions that must be met in order for CAMagic Mobile to find your mobile phone with Bluetooth wireless technology.
First, the Bluetooth feature of your mobile phone must be turned on. If you don't know how to turn on Bluetooth transmission, please check your mobile phone manual.
Second, some phones need to be set to Dicoverable mode during the search. For example, Motorola phones have a Discoverable mode that lasts for 60 seconds once activated. If you phone requires this setting, you will need to activate the CAMagic Mobile search while the phone is in Discoverable mode, otherwise CAMagic Mobile won't locate you phone. You can check your mobile phone manual for details about the setting.
Thirdly, if the phone battery is low on power, CAMagic Mobile may not find your phone. Recharge your battery if it is low.
Even if the above conditions are met, you may need to search two or more times to find your mobile phone, especially if there are many devices with Bluetooth wireless technology in the area.
2.9 Q: I have paired my mobile phone and set it as the default device. How come CAMagic Mobile still can't connect?
A: If your phone's connection for Bluetooth wireless technology is already engaged, for example, if the phone is connected to a headset, CAMagic Mobile won't be able to connect with your mobile phone even though it is paired and set as the default device. Please cancel your phone's current Bluetooth connection and start the CAMagic Mobile program again.
2.10 Q: How can I transfer my current mobile phone contacts to my new mobile phone?
A: First, connect your old mobile phone and save the contact information as a csv file stored in your computer.
Second, pair and connect your new mobile phone and load the csv file stored in your computer. Move all the contact information with drag-and-drop to the “Mobile” or “SIM card” area in the CAMagic Mobile interface.
Another solution is to use the Sync Manager function. First synchronize your old mobile phone contact information to your Outlook or Outlook Express program on your computer, then synchronize your new mobile phone with Outlook or Outlook Express. This solution will transfer all the contact information in your Outlook or Outlook Express.
If you're using CAMagic Mobile version 2.3 or above, you can find MS Outlook or Outlook Express phone book information listed on the screen. You can easily drag and drop the phone book information between your mobile phone and Outlook or Outlook Express. If you save your original phone book information to Outlook or Outlook Express, you can then drag and drop it into your new mobile phone.
2.11 Q: Why can't I read the contact data in the SIM card?
A: CAMagic Mobile connects to the handset and retrieves data from the handset through the GSM Standard AT Command built into your handset. Normally, the handset contains the script for external programs to read the contact data saved in the SIM card and the phone memory of the handset.
Some intelligent handsets, such as the series of Nokia handsets that use the Symbian Operating System, don't support this function because they require greater speed for reading large data files. In this case, we suggest that users copy data from the SIM card to the handset itself. It will help to speed up data reading, and there will be more space available for saving your Contacts data.
2.12 Q: Why can't I use the Internet access?
A: Please check the following:
1. The handset with Bluetooth wireless technology has a built-in GPRS modem.
2. You have enabled the GPRS data transfer function for your SIM Card.
3. The USB Bluetooth Driver has been installed completely and paired successfully.
4. The GPRS modem driver for your phone model has been installed completely.
When the conditions above are met, execute the GPRS Internet connection program in CAMagic Mobile. You can connect to Internet through the GPRS functionality of your handset.
PS. For dial-up/APN information, please contact your Internet network operator if your operator is not in our support list.
2.13 Q: Why can't I transfer files to my mobile phone?
A: When you use CAMagic Mobile to download data from the phone, the program will not block any files. However, if a file format is not supported by the mobile phone, the program will block the upload. You can check your mobile phone manual for the exact file formats that your mobile phone supports.
